Classes

Each dance class begins with a warm-up in order to prepare the body for exercise and to prevent injuries. Various stretching and strengthening exercises are performed during the warm-up to increase flexibility, strength and control. All classes include the learning of basic steps and progressive skills specific to the dance form. Classes progress to the centre of the room where dancers learn, practice, and perform a dance combination specific to the type of dance, age, and level of the class.

PRESCHOOLERS 2-5 YRS

Creative Movement ages 2-3 & 3-4:

Littles ones can participate in a fun class that based on Jazz and Ballet beginner steps. These steps are introduced in an exciting way through songs, games, and the use of props.

Kindercombo ages 4-6:

This fun class is divided into two sections: Jazz & Tap. Receiving an introduction to basic Jazz steps and following with basic tap rhythms while creating music with their feet. It is a great introduction class for the little dancer who is full of energy and needs to move.

THE CLASSICS / RECREATIONAL AGES 5+

Acrobatic Arts:

Acrobatic dance is the beautiful fusion of classic dance technique and the athleticism of acrobatic elements. Acrobatic Arts is a program that is based on safe and effective progressions with proven results in five divisions of AcroDance: Flexibility, Strength, Balancing, Limbering and Tumbling.

All Boys hip hop:

Yees, only boys in this class! Our all boys hip hop classes are created to challenge the boys while having fun and learning cool hip hop moves. Come out and give it a shot!

Ballet:

This program is based on the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) teaching method. This program improves dancers poise, posture and overall dance technique. It is valuable for dancers to enroll in ballet, which provides the fundamental training for all other dance forms. Through ballet, all other dance forms become enhanced as it promotes discipline, strength, balance and control.

Hip hop:

This program is a high-energy dance experience that is fun for dancers ages 5 and up. It combines funky dance movements performed to trendy hip hop and popular music. The dynamics of hip hop dancing areas physically demanding as any sport, requiring strength, flexibility, endurance, and control. This dance genre is a popular choice!

Jazz:

The emphasis on this class is technique, style, and choreography. Dancers learn progressive jazz skills to create combinations and choreography. The class is combined with a warm-up, center exercises, progressions of jumps and turns across the floor all with upbeat popular music.

Lyrical:

Lyrical classes explore the combination of both ballet and jazz technique through center work, across theroom sequences and choreography. Artistic interpretation of music is used while expressing emotion through movement. Balance, strength, and control is developed in this beautiful dance genre.

Pointe:

All pointe dancers will require the permission of the instructor to register. The dancer must also be enrolled in a ballet class. Pointe requires previous ballet training.

Tap:

This program incorporates rhythm, technique, tap terminology, timing, and coordination. Dancers will learn and acquire basic, progressive and intricate tap skills. Tap dancing allows dancers to make music with their feet by performing rhythm-based tap choreography.

Adult Drop-In Classes:

Are you interested in adding dance into your life? We are offering adult drop in classes in a variety of disciplines from Hip Hop, Heels, Contemporary, Ballet, Tap and Yoga! Intensive

Overview

Members of the Dance Express Team participate in many competitions and performances. We offer a program that requires a high level of commitment and training. Our team has been recognized for overall, choreography, and costume awards as well as studio etiquette awards. Entry into our intensive program is by audition only.
